Safeguarding

At Gatton Primary School we are committed to safeguarding children and young people and we expect everyone who works in our school to share this commitment. Adults in our school take all welfare concerns seriously and encourage children and young people to talk to us about anything that worries them. We will always act in the best interest of the child.

Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families and carers has a role to play in
safeguarding children. All professionals should ensure that their approach is child centred: this means
considering at all times what is in the best interests of the child.

Staff members must raise any safeguarding concerns with the designated safeguarding lead or
deputies without delay. Concerns must be logged with the safeguarding team.

Trips

If you are interested in volunteering to support a school trip, please be aware that it is now a requirement to complete the School Trip Volunteer Safeguarding Training each time you wish to volunteer for a trip.

To be considered, you must:

Watch the Volunteer Safeguarding Training video.
Successfully complete the accompanying quiz.
Submit your expression of interest to volunteer.

Please note that failure to complete the training and quiz will mean that we are unable to accept your expression of interest, as safeguarding training is a basic requirement for all parent volunteers for trips.

Whilst completing the training does not guarantee that you will be selected to attend a trip, it is a mandatory requirement for anyone who may be chosen to support. Therefore, we strongly advise that you complete the training before registering your interest.

If you are selected, you will be invited to attend a risk assessment briefing before the trip takes place.
